The Role:Medcan is recruiting for a Nurse Consultant, RN to join the Medcan Clinic’s Patient Support Centre. The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse with experience in a similar nursing role and exceptional communication and client service skills.The Nurse Consultant acts as the main point of contact for our patients providing guidance, education and support to our client population. The role works closely with a small multi-disciplinary team of physicians and service coordinators to provide timely communication of results and follow up care to the client.The Nurse Consultant role also involves facilitating specialist appointments and diagnostic imaging within North America (Case Management). The majority of this role involves telephone and e-mail communication with clients; there is little face-to-face patient interaction in the role.The main accountabilities of the role are:Primary point of contact for clients which may include providing clients with education and guidance regarding healthy lifestyle, navigation of the health care system, and support and counseling regarding new diagnoses. Arrange and coordinate appointments with specialists and diagnostic facilities.Coordinate follow up care for clients including scheduling appointments and providing follow up care such as results and prescription renewals.Communication and explanation of results from Annual Health Assessment Case ManagementTriage prospective client callsRotational weekend/evening pager coverageCoordinate with others team to ensure exceptional delivery of service for all clients The Requirements:Registered Nurse in good standing with Ontario College of NursesCurrent CPR-Healthcare certificate1-5 years nursing experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsGreat organization and time management skillsIntermediate level in MS Word, Excel and Outlook The position is scheduled primarily during business hours Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturday’s may be required on rotation. The role is accountable for carrying a pager for on-call coverage on rotation with the team every 6-8 weeks.The role reports to the Manager, Care Navigation Services and is a full time, permanent position.
